Capturing the Soul of Sight: A Guide to Iris Photography

My name is Anna Egli and I grew up in Sidney, NY, a small town in the Catskill Mountains. I have always had an interest in the human eye and have pursued anterior segment ocular photography since I was 16. My senior year of high school, I was accepted to the dual admission program with St. Bonaventure University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. At St. Bonaventure, I completed training to earn my EMT-B certification, and volunteered for the campus emergency response team. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Society in 2021 and moved to Bradenton, Florida, where I began my first year of medical school. In addition to my studies, I worked for LECOM prosecting cadavers and served as a tutor for students struggling in Anatomy. Last May, I moved to St. Augustine, where I am completing my rotations at UF Health Flagler Hospital. I'm currently involved with several case reports as well as ophthalmologic clinical research opportunities with Florida Eye Specialists in Jacksonville. I'm so excited to apply to ophthalmology residencies this summer! Outside of academics, I love reading, digital and film photography, and playing trivia with my friends.
